Episode 498: The Man Who Replaced 1100mg of Oxycontin with Cannabis
A devastating workplace injury in 1992 led to multiple spinal surgeries, hardware implantation, and ongoing degenerative disc issues for John Prinz of California. At one point, he was prescribed over 1100 milligrams of Oxycontin daily, along with a range of other medications, and faced further invasive interventions including a spinal cord stimulator trial and a possible morphine pump. Instead, he made a different choice. Over a two-year transition, he gradually moved off opioids and into a cannabis-based regimen that he has maintained ever since.
