Kat Bago of Tennessee was just 30 years old, working in hospitals, raising a young family—when chronic pain began to dismantle her life piece by piece. After years of searching, she was diagnosed with congenital spinal stenosis. She underwent major spinal surgeries, and put on opioids which she said made her feel like a zombie. When she began taking cannabis it was a life-changing decision. This is a story about pain, courage, motherhood, and choosing a different path to healing.

Nine years ago, we spoke with Geri Klughart of British Columbia, Canada—a woman who had lost both her mother and her husband to cancer. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer herself, Geri chose a path that went against medical advice and trusted cannabis oil instead, despite being told she had a “death wish.”  Today, Geri returns with the gift of perspective. She is the author of Cannabis Is Medicine, serves as Medical Director of Canna-Centers Wellness & Education, and is also the Chief Medical Advisor for Neurotech International, where she helps develop cannabinoid-based formulations for autism and other pediatric neurological conditions.
