Her son Alfie was born with a rare form of genetic epilepsy. He suffered his first seizure at 8 months old and his condition progressively worsened. In 2016, at the age of 5, he was admitted to hospital 48 times as a result of being unresponsive to anti-epilepsy drugs and was receiving up to 25 doses of steroids a month.
